- Currently, civic authority is focusing on recruiting 125 doctors
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has failed to construct dispensaries in most of the developed sectors of federal capital, despite earmarking 25 plots for the purpose which leaves the citizens of twin cities and adjacent areas to rush into two main hospitals, it has been learnt.
Earlier, the civic management has earmarked 25 plots for the construction of health care centres, including 18 dispensaries with basic and modern facilities like X-ray, ultrasound, etc., so the patients of minor disease would be entertained by nearby dispensaries which would consequently decrease the burden on Poly Clinic and PIMS hospital.
Reportedly, many plots, which were auctioned separately for small private hospitals on depreciated prices, were later reserved for the construction of buildings and commercial plazas after the authority’s approval.
According to available documents, a total of seven plots has been set aside in the F sectors for the construction of health care institutions. Of these, just one has been used for building a dispensary in F-7/4, Bazaar no 4.
In the G sectors, the CDA had set aside 15 plots for the construction of health facilities of which seven have been utilised for the construction of health care facilities, including Polyclinic and CDA Hospital.
The documents reveal that one health centre is operating in G-7/3-2, one in G-6/2 and one each in G-8/4, G-9 and G-10.
Similarly, 16 plots were reserved for the establishment of healthcare facilities in sectors I-8, I-9, I-10 and I-12.
It is noted that, at present, Polyclinic has over 30 dispensaries in various areas, including President Colony, Parliament House and Supreme Court.
It may be mentioned here that due to the negligence of the civic authority, not only main hospitals, doctors, but citizens are also suffering as they are made to wait for hours in lines in order to enter doctor’s office for treatment.
When contacted, CDA Spokesperson Mazhar Hussain said that the incumbent civic management under the supervision of Mayor cum CDA Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz is focusing on extending medical facilities for the citizens.
“In the first step, CDA is recruiting 126 doctors to strengthen its Capital Hospital, in the second step, the authority will look into the construction of new dispensaries in the capital,” he said.
