Working in Pakistan depends on good script, logistics: Hollywood actor Faran Tahir

LAHORE: Pakistani-American Hollywood actor Faran Tahir, on Saturday, said, “I would love to work in Pakistan provided it’s a good script and the logistics work out.”

While talking to Pakistan Today, he commented on the revival of Pakistani Cinema, saying: “I think our local cinema has more or less revived now. There is some excellent content coming out of the industry, and it’s only going to get better from here.”

Faran Tahir currently has an extremely busy schedule as he is busy working on three projects simultaneously. Faran will be appearing in the television series Shameless and The Magicians, as well as the movie Mindhack: #savetheworld (earlier titled The Mad Genius Project).

Shameless is a remake of the British comedy-drama of the same name and depicts the story of a dysfunctional family. Faran is currently shooting for the eighth season of the show along with the rest of the cast which includes William H. Macy, Emmy Rossum, Justin Chatwin and Jeremy Allen White. The show will be airing on US television network Showtime.

The Magicians is an American fantasy television series that airs on Syfy and is based on the novel of the same name by Lev Grossman. The series was renewed for its third season earlier this year, and is currently being shot. The season will air in 2018.

Mindhack: #savetheworld is an upcoming science fiction film about a young mad genius and his imaginary friend who make a flawed attempt to fix humanity’s problems by “hacking the human mind.” Faran will be seen playing the role of the antagonist Eden. The movie has been directed by Royce Gorsuch is currently in its post-production phase.

Faran graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a BA in Theatre before acquiring a graduate degree from the American Repertory Theater’s (A.R.T.) Institute for Advanced Theater Training at Harvard University.

He made his film debut playing Nathoo in the Disney’s 1994 live-action version of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book. He has since appeared in such films as Picture Perfect (1997), Anywhere But Here (1999) and Charlie Wilson’s War (2007).

He also played the male lead in the 1999 independent film ABCD. In 2008, he played the role of the villain Raza in the Marvel Comics-based Iron Man. He played Starfleet Captain Richard Robau in the 2009 film Star Trek. In 2013, Tahir played President Patel in the science-fiction film Elysium.
