KP CM reviews projects under GDA

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has directed the Galyat Development Authority (GDA) to finalise the rules of business required for the fast development of Galyat, adding that the absence of rules is a big handicap in the development of the area.

He also directed to publicise the construction of approach road to the town as a project so that the spade work on it could be initiated with an immediate effect.

He issued these directives, while presiding over a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Peshawar.

Local Government Secretary MPA Sardar Idrees, Strategic Support Unit chief Sahibzada Saeed and other concerned officers were also present on this occasion.

While briefing the meeting about the rules of business of the authority, GDA Town and progress with respect to the changes in the GDA Act, it was revealed that two amendments have been proposed and added that the revised draft of the rules of business was also ready. Four types of rules, including the building control and tribunal rules, have been framed.

The chief minister has also issued directives to send the revised draft of the rules to Law Department for vetting and added that the summary of the proposed amendments should be sent forthwith. The members of the meeting were informed that land has been identified for GDA Town and for which a road need to be constructed.

The chief minister directed that the developmental work and the proposed road as a single project be advertised.

He warned that no hurdle should be created in the development of the area.

The chief minister was informed about the rest houses under the Galyat Development Authority, adding that two among the total 49 rest houses in the area were under the control of local government. The CM directed to hand over the two rest houses to GDA and added that a summary to this effect should be sent with an immediate effect.
