LAHORE: Lahore Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal on Saturday directed the concerned officials to complete the repair work of roads in the city which were damaged due to the construction of safe cities project. He said this while chairing a meeting on the Safe Cities Project.
“All the relevant departments should put in place measures to complete the repair and restoration work,” the commissioner said. The concerned departments should also upload daily report about their tasks in this regard, he added.
He said that a 1,066-kilometre fibre optic cable has been laid and work on the remaining 124 kilometres was in progress.
Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) would issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to other agencies soon, to maintain agencies’ pace for the development work and avoid damages, he said.
The commissioner said that strong coordination was a need of the hour to avoid damages to fibre optic cables, adding that any damage to a fibre cable could compromise the security and safety functions of safe cities project.
Project Management Specialist Ali Shamsher, Development Director Amjad Chaudhry, and focal persons of WASA, LDA, LESCO, SNGPL, PHA and traffic police attended the meeting.
