AJK premier summoned over ‘controversial’ remarks

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider was issued notices by the AJK Legislative Assembly’s Secretariat on Friday to appear before the AJK Assembly on August 28 to explain his July 29 comments.

Haider got himself in hot water after the disqualification of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on July 28, saying that as a Kashmiri, he will have to rethink his affiliation with Pakistan, if this is what Jinnah’s Pakistan meant.

His remarks created an uproar in the national media, even though his office later issued a clarification.
