ISLAMABAD: Senate Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) recommended on Friday that the Mohmand Agency political agents should set up verification offices for CNIC’s and domiciles at tehsil level to facilitate the public.
The committee meeting was chaired by Senator Hilal-ur-Rehman and attended by Senators Muhammad Saleh Shah, Aurangzeb Khan, Taj Muhammad Afridi, Sajjad Hussain Turi, Ahmed Hassan, Khanzada Khan and Sitara Ayaz. Officials of the SAFRON Ministry and FATA secretariat were also present.
Mohmand Agency Political Agent (PA) Mehmood Aslam gave the details of income and expenditures of the welfare fund of the agency from January 1 to December 31, 2016.
He said that the total income earned by the agency was Rs 122 million, expenditures was Rs 112 million and the closing balance was Rs 92 million.
Talking about the Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) cases, he said that from January 1 to December 31, 2016, 51 different cases were registered out of which 34 were disposed and 17 were pending. He also added that around Rs 4 million were collected from the criminals.
To a question of Committee Chairman, the PA said that under the National Action Plan (NAP) 596 operations were conducted which led to 2,000 arrests, killing of 1,086 terrorists and deportation of 2,925 Afghan refugees.
