KARACHI: Disgruntled parents, on Friday, staged a rally at Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi,  to protest against the fee hike by the Foundation Public School and other private educational institutions of the city.
The outrageous hike in the fees of private schools has left several parents worried about the future of their children.

The protestors said the unprecedented annual increase in tuition fee is a violation of the court that prohibits the institutions in raising tuition fee by more than five per cent.

Last year in October, the Sindh High Court threw out the petition of city’s private schools for increasing their fee more than five per cent. The court directed the Sindh education department to enforce the restricted increase in fee and submit schools’ audited accounts report to the court on a quarterly basis.

A large number of civil society members and students also joined the protest, carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against private schools.

The protesters urged the school administration to take back the decision of extra fee and also called upon the provincial government to take notice of the situation.
