KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Suhail Anwar Sial on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to plan a policy for probing into bank robbery incidents and directed the concerned officials to take effective measures in this regard.
He said that he had a serious concern over the last week’s bank robberies and in this regard, the meetings of all concerned stakeholders and police officers were also called.
He also said that the Sindh government has issued instructions to the police and security agencies that no deficiency should be left in the protection of government and private banks and all procedures and protocols should be followed in this regard.
He assured the government’s full cooperation with the bank representatives, saying that Crime Investigation Department’s DIG has been given responsibility for policy-making and forming integrated strategies with bank owners and security companies.
A committee consisting of the representatives from Sindh police and security companies is being formed, which will be bound to submit a report within a month.
While briefing the minister, the State Bank of Pakistan’s representative said that the central audit of all commercial and private banks is regularly done by the central bank and it will be ensured that the security arrangements are made in all banks.
