LAHORE: At least 31,000 packets of imported expired chocolate was seized by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in a raid in Rawalpindi.
PFA conducted the raid at a warehouse located on Rawalpindi’s College Road.
They found a huge quantity of chocolates hidden in this factory which was supplied to various super stores and shopping malls, according to the PFA. As a result, the warehouse was sealed and a case was registered against the owners of the warehouse.
According to the PFA’s findings, this chocolate was expired even before it was imported hence a case was registered against the owners of the warehouse.
Before this, the PFA has sealed at least two sweet shops in Lahore and Rawalpindi due to unhygienic products. This crackdown began at Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to PFA Director General Noorul Amin Mengal, nearly 240 kilogrammes of ready-to-sell sweets and 400 kilogrammes of inferior quality ingredients were recovered and disposed of.
