LAHORE: An exposed manhole in the Nishat Colony area of Lahore resulted in the death of a three-year-old boy on Wednesday night, according to reports.
The child, Azan, was taking a walk with his mother when he accidentally fell into an open manhole that he could not see due to darkness.
Local residents immediately informed Rescue 1122 and in the meanwhile, tried to rescue the child themselves as well.
Rescue 1122 managed to recover the child from the manhole after four hours, who was in a critical condition. They immediately shifted him to the nearest hospital, where the child was declared dead by the doctors.
There has been a sudden rise in deaths related to open manholes in the area, against which the residents have protested time and again, but the authorities have not been able to resolve the issue as of yet.
