Jennifer Lawrence has been knocked down a couple spots on Forbes’ annual list of the worlds highest paid actressses,replaced at the top by La La Land star Emma Stone.
Stone, 28, who won an Oscar for best actress in La La Land, made $US26 million in pre-tax earnings in the year up to June.
Friends star Jennifer Aniston, 48, grabbed the runner-up spot with earnings of $US25.5 million, boosted by numerous endorsement deals across the world.
Earning estimates are based on a 12-month pre-tax scoring period from Nielsen data, box office numbers, and industry insiders.
Lawrence, who previously topped the list for two years in a row, now ranks at No. 3, with earnings of $24 million in the last 12 months — just a little more than half of the $46 million she made in 2016. The Oscar winning star earned most of her money in the past year from the upcoming movies Mother! and Red Sparrow, along with an endorsement deal with Dior.
Stone spoke out against gender parity earlier this year, revealing that her male co-stars had taken salary cuts so she could receive equal pay.
“That’s something they do for me because they feel it’s what’s right and fair,” Stone told Out magazine. “That’s something that’s also not discussed, necessarily — that our getting equal pay is going to require people to selflessly say, ‘That’s what’s fair.'”
Emma Watson is the sole newcomer on this year’s list after “Beauty and the Beast” became the top-grossing movie of the year so far, at $1.26 billion.
While four women breached the $20 million mark last year, only three crossed the threshold this year.
