- Visiting army officials visits National Counter-Terrorism Training Centre
A six-member delegation of the US Army’s Central Command led by Lieutenant General Michael Garrett is on a three-day visit to Pakistan, according to a press release issued here on Wednesday.
On his first visit to Pakistan, Lt General Garrett along with the delegation met with chief of the general staff, the directors general of the Military Training and the Military Operations at the General Headquarters of the Pakistan Army.
They also met with directors general of the Joint Staff and the Joint Warfare and Training to discuss operations, training, and other areas of military cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
The delegation also visited the National Counter-Terrorism Training Centre where the director briefed them on efforts to train soldiers to fight terrorist groups. Lt General Garrett said this visit was significant in continuing to build the relationship between the two militaries and countries, one of key partners in the region.
The Central Command engages with Pakistan’s military leadership and organisations primarily through military-to-military information exchanges, regional symposia and multilateral and bilateral exercises. These events allow both the countries to build relationships necessary to advance counterterrorism efforts in the region.
