ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change Mushahidullah Khan has said that Pakistan, at the Bishkek Summit, will highlight establishment of a permanent set-up for protecting snow leopards in Pakistan.
The minister was talking to Regional Director of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Aban Marker Kabraji, who called on him at Ministry of Climate Change on Wednesday.
Mushahidullah Khan further said that climate change needs to be highlighted through Islamic teachings. He also assured to provide full support to IUCN for its projects.
Aban appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Navy for increasing mangroves forests in coastal areas. She also assured to extend IUCN support to establish a permanent office in Pakistan for snow leopard protection.
She also highlighted that Pakistan should focus more on oceans because the whole world is concentrating more on environmental issues related to oceans. She also requested to expedite the implementation process of Sustainable Forest Mangroves which is being implemented with the collaboration of IUCN.
