Obama’s post Charlottesville tweet goes viral, breaks all records

Former President Barack Obama’s took to twitter to respond to a deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, and his tweet is going viral all over the world.

In a series of posts on Twitter, Obama shared the words of former South African president Nelson Mandela, with the first of his tweets on its way to becoming the most liked of all time.

“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin or his background or his religion…” Obama wrote. The tweet featured a photograph of Obama looking into a window filled with young children belonging to different racial backgrounds.

These tweets follow the incidents that took place in the USA over the weekend, involving white supremacists, and removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in Virginia. The rally resulted in clashes with counter-protesters that resulted in the death of one woman and several others injured.

Other tweets that have gained this massive reaction are Ellen Degeneres’ 2014 Oscars selfie, which drew more than 2.4 million likes, and singer Ariana Grande’s 2017 tweet after the horrifying Manchester Arena attack.

This quote has been taken from the Nelson Mandela’s autobiography, “Long Walk to Freedom,” and Obama finished it in two additional tweets: “‘People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love. For love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.’ – Nelson Mandela.”

Trump’s response to the clashes was weak in many respects as was noted by critics. In contrast, Trump’s initial tweet had just about 188,000 likes as of Tuesday morning.
