PESHAWAR: Latest victim of Congo virus in the city is a man, who died in a private hospital on Wednesday.

The deceased, Waheedullah Afridi, was diagnosed with the deadly virus around a week ago. He was admitted to a private hospital as soon as he was diagnosed.

He was a resident of Jamrud, Khyber Agency and was recently shifted to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia.

Congo Virus is spreading rapidly in the city with at least three cases that have already been diagnosed. The samples from patients suspected of having Congo virus are sent to National Institute of Health Islamabad.

Cattle markets have started popping up in the city since Eid-ul-Azha is approaching, like in many others in the country. Sacrificial animals are said to be carrying the virus, which is why people prefer to buy them a day or two ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

This is even more concerning as cattle markets start popping up ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. Sacrificial animals are said to be loaded with this virus and tradition is to get these a day or two earlier.
