PWF’s women empowerment session concludes

KARACHI: A three-day women empowerment seminar concluded on Tuesday. The ceremony was held at the Global Marquee in Karachi.

The seminar was hosted by Shanaz Ramzi and the motivational speaker for the third day was Senator Khushbakht Shujat.

She spoke at length on ‘Women tackling challenges in education in Pakistan’. The inspiring and enlightening speech kept the audience spellbound.

A panel discussion on the same subject was the next segment. The panellists included heavyweights such as Nargis Alvi, Shaha Malik, Ameena Saiyed, and Ambreena Ahmed, and the discussion was moderated by Mahin Sahibzadi.

Before the end of the discussion, the moderator took some questions from the audience which added value to the discussion that had just taken place.

After the panel discussion, an awards ceremony was held to honour six of those women who have voluntarily or involuntarily helped Pakistan achieve any one of UN’s 16 Sustainable Development Goals for the years 2015-2030.

The five award recipients were introduced individually and visual presentations showed their work before they were invited on stage by the host.

The recipients of the awards included: Dr Quratulain Bakhteari, Shireen Halai, Sabiha Zaman, Tahira Mohammed Ali Shah (late) and Dr Amena Hasan.

Special awards were also given out to members of the artist fraternity for their invaluable contributions to fine arts.
