With the game going into the final over, the composure of Dinesh Ramdin saw Knight Riders to a win over St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots, needing just 3 of the last over. With this victory, they secured their place in the knockouts.
The game had massive changes in momentum as the Knight Riders were struggling at 89 for 5 in the 14th over. Windies’ experienced players, Dinesh Ramdin and Dwayne Bravo put on a crucial 41-run partnership, Bravo adding 21. It was in the penultimate over of the innings that the situation became clear when T20 World Cup hero, Carlos Brathwaite got hit for two sixes and a four, bringing down the equation to just 3 required off the final over.
Ramdin hit Hasan Ali for a four with three balls to spare to set up a scintillating win for his franchise.
Hasan Ali was impressive in the field showing agility and athleticism when he produced a direct-hit to run out Bravo after taking a good catch at cover to dismiss Colin Munro. Ramdin then flung open the doors for a comeback by launching Tabraiz Shamsi for two sixes in the 15th over.
Cashing in from his dropped catch by Brandon King in the ninth over, Ramdin along with his partner Searles, however, cracked a stream of shots in the slog overs to steer the home side.
In the first innings, St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots had reached to a decent total of 158/7, with scores of 37 and 31 by Shamarh Brooks and Jonathan Carter respectively. On a slow track, Narine picked up two wickets while leading wicket taker of the CPL and Pakistani young talent Shadab Khan also took a wicket.
Knight Riders have won five out of their six matches so far, while St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots have lost all their five games.
