- PTI chairman praises Sheikh Rashid for ‘waging jihad’
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday said that only those people are standing beside former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif who have ‘vested interests’ in the ‘corrupt’ setup.
He was addressing the rally held by the party along with the Awami Muslim League (AML) here in Liaquat Bagh. Addressing the gathering, Imran praised AML Chairman Sheikh Rashid Ahmad for ‘waging a jihad’ against ‘corruption’ and ‘political mafia’ for the last nine years.
“For three years, Nawaz Sharif has been controlling all the institutions; this was the first time, that he wasn’t able to control the joint investigation team or the Supreme Court – this is why he [Nawaz] is calling his disqualification a conspiracy,” he said. “This is not a conspiracy but this is a ‘new’ Pakistan,” he said.
The PTI chairman said that the GT Road rally of the Pakistan Muslim League-N was a ‘conspiracy’ to pressurise ‘state’ institutions. Earlier, PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s took a jibe at the former prime minister for asking why he was disqualified from his office. “You ask why you were removed. You were disqualified because you ‘looted’ national exchequer,” he claimed.
Calling the gathering a ‘historic’ rally, Sheikh Rashid said that the country’s history would change today. He said that the crowd aren’t ‘rented’ people but devoted friends of his and the PTI chief. PTI leader Chaudhry Sarwar praised the Supreme Court and the army, calling the two institutions credible.
“Rest of the institutions have been compromised because their heads are appointed by the government,” he said. A fireworks display to celebrate the Independence Day began at 12.01am. Strict security arrangements were made at the venue, with only a single entry and exit point for the public.
‘WHY WAS NAWAZ OUSTED’
The PTI has decided to distribute pamphlets in different parts of the country, telling the reasons of former prime minister’s disqualification. The move has been decided by PTI in response to the constant question raised by the former prime minister throughout his homecoming rally that why was he ousted.
The pamphlets would be distributed in the twin cities, Islamabad and Rawalpindi today (on Independence Day) via helicopter. A PTI spokesperson claimed that the PML-N tried to ‘deceive’ the people of Rawalpindi by distributing copies of Iqama, but PTI will let everyone know the truth.
He said that regional and district organisations across the country will distribute these pamphlets which consist of 10 points, and says that Nawaz Sharif was ousted because he ‘looted national treasure’ by corruption and wrong use of his designation. He made offshore companies and properties on the names of his children to hide his plundered money.
He tried to hide the black money by mentioning wrong details in his nomination papers and misled the nation along with ECP, FBR, SECP and other institutions of his real assets. He committed money laundering with the help Ishaq Dar and other corrupt government servants. He has been deceiving the federal tax-collecting institutions for past thirty years.
He lied in his address to the National Assembly and the nation after the Panama Papers were leaked, and tried to hoodwink the court instead of speaking the truth. He, along with his children, tried everything possible to create obstacles in court’s proceedings and in the investigation of JIT and submitted forged documents in the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.
He is not ‘Sadiq and Ameen’ (honest and trustworthy) by any means under the Articles 62, 63 of the constitution. The apex court and the nation sought his answer for fifteen months, but he had nothing to tell except lies. It was declared by the five judges of the Supreme Court that he is not honest and trustworthy, not by five common people.
