Love across borders

Aagahz-e-Dosti organised a rare exhibition at the Faiz Ghar Auditorium, in which letters and cards, exchanged between Pakistani and Indian children, were recited.

Addressing the gathering, Peace and Human Rights advocate and a veteran communist IA Rehman urged the people across the border to understand the importance of peace, peaceful coexistence and harmony between the two neighbours.

“Pakistan and India need to understand the importance of humanity, love and peace,” he said, sharing a lot of work done by different people for peace between the two South Asian nations. “I feel glad as these young souls are taking this word forward without any greed and from their heart,” he said.

“I am happy to see these young souls, who will take our struggle forward,” he said, while paying rich tributes to the Aagahz-e-Dosti team for arranging such an important event. The Faiz Ghar arranged the event in collaboration with the Aaghaz-e-Dosti and the ‘Hum Sab Aik Hain.’

The Aaghaz-e-Dosti team initiated a programme of letters/cards exchange between Pakistani and Indian children. In 2016, Indian students had sent solidarity cards for the Gulshan-i-Iqbal tragedy on Easter. In response, Pakistani students sent cards to Indian students on Diwali. They, in return, received very thoughtful letters from the Indian students.

Saeeda Hajra recited a letter by Nysa Devgan, daughter of the famous Indian couple Ajay and Kajol Devgan. “We share cultures, languages and other than this we share a long history. We share much more than any other neighbouring country. Love to Pakistan,” the letter read.

Muhammad Zain, another student, recited a letter from the Indian side. A girl from Nanka Sahib School recited a letter, which she has written to her friend in India.

“Pakistan and India should live with love, peace and harmony, even if we are from different religions but we all are humans first,” another letter read. The programme concluded with a thanks note by Raza Khan, convener of the Aaghaz-e-Dosti in Pakistan.
