ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the incidents of terrorism have been brought down by 90 per cent due to sacrifices of the armed forces and the people, and now Pakistan is emerging as an economic power.

Talking to media persons after inaugurating the Azadi Train at Margalla Railway Station here Saturday, she said that it was the dream of the people to see Pakistan safe and secure, and that dream has been fulfilled by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government, under the leadership of former PM Nawaz Sharif.

She said the sacrifices of Benazir Bhutto for democracy are before everyone, adding that she hopes the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will not back out from strengthening the democratic process in the country.

She implored other political parties to also take steps to strengthen democracy.

Taking a jibe at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the minister said that PTI chief Imran Khan can’t fathom the support being shown by masses for PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif and that it is Imran’s time to “go home”.

She said Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi will go ahead to fulfil the promises made by the PML-N in its election manifesto, while expressing confidence that people will give their verdict in 2018 elections for the party.

The state minister pointed that the rally of Nawaz Sharif was heartily welcomed by the people at every point on GT road and they extended their support to him. She said this spirit of love and affection for Nawaz Sharif cannot be divided.

She said Azadi Train depicts culture, as well as national heritage, of Pakistan and reflects tremendous development in the country. She said the train reflects “Main Hoon Pakistan”.

She also said significant improvements have been made in Pakistan Railways.
