LAHORE: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), in collaboration with Chief Minister’s Special Monitoring Unit (CM SMU), and Bargad Foundation, will commence their two day Independence celebrations on August 13. The celebrations will be held inside Delhi Gate and Chowk Wazir Khan.
The activities at Chowk Wazir Khan will include cultural performances by the locals, musical performances, folk songs, national songs, dhamaal and qawwali.
The trail from Delhi Gate to Chowk Wazir Khan has also been illuminated with green and white lights. Houses and shops have hoisted the national flag and buntings to celebrate the day. Residents of the walled city have also decorated their houses and havelis for this purpose.
All the gates of the walled city have also been illuminated with green and white lights. Rest of the walled city has been decorated with different lights and buntings, by WCLA.
WCLA Director General (DG) Kamran Lashari said, “For the first time such an activity has been planned on such a large scale, inside the walled city, to celebrate the Independence Day.”
The DG said that he was thankful to all the partners, CM SMU and Bargad Foundation for extending their support.
