— PTI Vice Chairman, AML Chief lambaste former prime minister
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed have lashed out at Nawaz Sharif and urged the former prime minister to understand that he cannot be restored through political rallies.
“Nawaz Sharif; you were disqualified. You should admit this reality and refrain from practising stubbornness,” Qureshi said while talking to a private TV channel on Friday. “Five honourable judges of the Supreme Court unanimously disqualified Nawaz Sharif due to the Panama case and despite this, he is considering himself as innocent,” Qureshi added.
Qureshi further said that through rallies, Nawaz was lambasting state institutions and was fooling the people in order to prove his innocence, which is nothing but his stubbornness. “Nawaz cannot change the SC’s judgment by bringing people on roads,” Qureshi claimed.
He said that Nawaz should accept the court’s verdict while keeping in view the gravity of the situation, adding that former interior minister is also looking forward to steer a middle course.
Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed also criticised Nawaz by saying that his own deeds got him disqualified. He further said that Nawaz was disqualified due to his bad acts and his corrupt practices, but he is not ready to admit his mistakes and is blaming the institutions.
The AML chief further said that Nawaz is attempting to cover up his own failures and wrong deeds, which would be disastrous for the democratic system and would also damage the institutions’ functionality.
