Mentally unstable man killed for blasphemy in Tando Adam

A mentally unstable man, Atta Mohammad Buriro, who was acquitted on the charges of blasphemy was killed in village Kamal Buriro near Tando Adam on Friday, police said.

Police said that the man was killed by some unknown motorcyclists while he was taking a bath in an irrigation canal, and died on the spot.

Later in the evening, the murderers surrendered themselves before the police and said that they had killed the person on the pretext of blasphemy, according to media reports.

Police confirmed the arrest of the two self-proclaimed killers and told the local reporters that they were investigating the murder from different angles.

The body was handed over to relatives of the deceased after a postmortem examination.

The victim was charged under the Section 295-C back in November 2012 on the complaint of a local lawyer.

“Call me a messenger”, the deceased had asked the local lawyers and court officials while visiting the court, reported a media outlet. He was sentenced to a life imprisonment on the charges of blasphemy, said a police official.

The man was later released a fortnight ago from the Hyderabad Central Jail after a medical board showed reservations on his mental state.
