GERMANY:German club Borussia Dortmund officials confirm that the club has rejected Barcelona’s offer for forward Ousmane Dembele on Wednesday.
“Borussia Dortmund have held talks with Catalan football club FC Barcelona regarding the possible transfer of BVB player Ousmane Dembele,” the statement said.
Dembele, who is reportedly willing to make a move to Barca, did not show up for the training session with coach Peter Bosz claiming to have no idea about the location, after which the player has been suspended from playing.
“Therefore, BVB decided to reject the offer. As there is no further offer from Barcelona to date, the transfer of the player to Barcelona is not currently likely”,the statement concluded.
According to media reports, the Spanish giants offered €100m, which was rejected by the German club as Dortmund expects somewhere around €130-150m for the French national.
Barcelona, who are linked to Dembele and Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, have until August 31 to replace former forward Neymar before the transfer season ends.
