ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday issued contempt of court notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.
The ECP has remarked in its decision that it can take action against the contempt of court, as it is in ECP’s jurisdiction. Furthermore, the PTI chief has been given time till August 23 to submit his reply before the ECP.
The ECP later adjourned the hearing of the contempt of court case against Imran Khan till August 23.
It is worth mentioning here that Imran Khan had earlier challenged ECP’s power to initiate contempt of court proceedings against him, and the commission had reserved its decision on July 25.
