— US envoy offers anti-terror trainings to law enforcement agencies

 

 

Minister for Interior Affairs Ahsan Iqbal has said that peace and security is indispensable for economic progress and Pakistan has to learn from the successful experiments of the developed countries for improving its economy.

Presiding over a high-level meeting of civil armed forces officers here on Thursday, he said that the menace of terrorism puts negative impact on the economic progress. Now, effective steps should be taken for stopping smuggling, he said.

The minister said that the whole region would benefit from the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). “We will foil conspiracies against the CPEC. Nobody will be allowed to harm the projects associated with the future of Pakistan,” he said.

During the meeting, the officers briefed the interior minister about performance of civil armed forces. The interior minister emphasised on formulating training programmes on modern lines to increase professional capacities of the civil armed forces.

He said that it was need of the hour that civil armed forces institutions should be equipped with modern technology to further promote peace and security in Pakistan. He said that further steps were needed to provide quality education to children of the martyrs.

AHSAN-HALE MEETING: During a meeting with US Ambassador David Hale, the interior minister said that implementation on the National Action Plan (NAP) was continuing successfully to eliminate terrorism and extremism. “Pakistan is desirous for peace in the region so that the masses can lead a prosperous life,” he said.

Both the sides discussed mutual relations between the two countries. Ambassador Hale offered anti-terror training programmes to the law enforcement agencies of Pakistan. Both the sides agreed that opportunities have been created for the students of Pakistan in the top universities of the United States.
