Punjab Govt committed to revive Kabaddi in province: Khanzada

Punjab Minister for Sports Janhangir Khanzada while commenting on the traditional sport of kabaddi expressed his views that the Punjab government would measures to the restore the game and encourage the youth to play the game.

He stated his government’s desire while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of SBP Jashan-e Azadi Kabaddi Tournament at Punjab Stadium.

The ceremony started with the kabaddi players being introduced to the guests of honour, the sports minister and SBP DG Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman.

Punjab Blues turned out victorious after trumping Punjab Greens by 51-42 to win the title.

Khanzada said wanted SBP to conduct a National Kabaddi Championship in which young kabaddi players could show case their skills.

“The Jashan-e Azadi sports events are being organized in all parts of the province to make the youth aware of objectives of Independence Day,” he added.

Director General Sports Punjab, Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghumman said: “Kabaddi is quite famous sport in the far-flung areas in Punjab and that’s why we have included it in Jashan-e-Azadi sports events.” Ghumman urged the youth to take part in Kabaddi Championships frequently.

Admiring the talent of the kabaddi players, SBP DG said: “Pakistan kabaddi players are presenting an international level game which is quite pleasing. Our players have won silver medals twice in kabaddi World Cup in the past. We will give world class training to our players so that they can win Kabaddi World Cup in future.”
