CTD guns down four alleged militants near Lahore blast site

LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), in a shootout near the Lahore blast site, gunned down at least four suspected Tehreek-e-Taliban militants, a few hours after the powerful explosion last night, according to reports.

Reportedly CTD has deployed police at all entry and exit points of Lahore to tackle any possible future attacks.

The attack happened as police stopped a vehicle for routine search, which prompted the men, in the vehicle, to open fire. This resulted in an exchange of fire, killing four suspected terrorists. However, some of the terrorists’ counterparts managed to escape the scene. These terrorists are said to be affiliated with the banned organisation, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

Huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from the custody of the dead terrorirts according to details.

An  explosion took place in a fruit truck parked at the Sagian Bridge near the Bund Road area, in Lahore. At least one person was killed and 33 injured, as a result of this explosion which shook the entire surrounding area.
