JIT members to give evidence to NAB officials probing Sharif Family

National Accountability Bureau has opted to take the information collected by the six members of Panama Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and add them as the main witnesses in the four references against Sharif family.

Members of the JIT which include Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Additional Director General Wajid Zia, Military Intelligence’s Brig Kamran Khurshid, National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) Director Irfan Naeem Mangi, State Bank of Pakistan’s Amer Aziz, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan’s (SECP) Executive Director Bilal Rasool and Inter-Services Intelligence’s Brig Muhammad Nauman Saeed will record their statements in from of the NAB inquiry team.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan, appointed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, will supervise the cases. However his appointment as the head of the of the team has been challenged in the court.
The Supreme court in its judgment regarding the Panama issue had ordered NAB to file references against the Sharif family including his son-in-law Capt ® Muhammad Safdar and NAB had been order to file the reference within a period of six weeks on the basis of the evidence collected by the JIT.

“In case the Accountability Court finds any deed, document or affidavit filed by or on behalf of the respondent(s) or any other person(s) to be fake, false, forged or fabricated, it shall take appropriate action against the concerned person in accordance with law,” the court stated.
