FIA to conduct forensic audit of 410 housing societies in Punjab

Illegal sale of land continues with approval of LDA officials

LAHORE: FIA has organised teams against fraudulent owners of 410 housing societies across 4 districts in Punjab, who have sold fake plots and made billions; action will be taken in the next 4 days.

FIA has finalised preparations to conduct a forensic audit.

The largest number of fraud by housing schemes against civilians is done in Lahore. In Faisalabad, Multan and Gujranwala as well, there are many instances of fake files being sold and regulations of housing societies being violated.

According to sources in FIA, data is being collected of fraudulent housing schemes across Punjab, for which 6 teams have been formed to conduct forensic audits.

3 teams in Lahore will conduct forensic audits of 180 housing societies. In this connection, under the leadership of Deputy Director Mohammad Ahmad, Deputy Director Ch Zulfiqar and Assistant Director Malik Sikander, the 3 teams have started preparing a list.

List of housing societies in Faisalabad will be prepared under the leadership of Deputy Director Ali imam Zaidi, Deputy Director Baber Sheheryar will lead the team preparing list for housing societies in Multan and Deputy Director Khalid Anees will lead the team probing the housing societies of Gujranwala.

With respect to this, sources in LDA Planning Department said that information on private societies approved by LDA is available on its website. Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif had directed leadership of LDA to take action against illegal housing societies, for which, LDA’s Metropolitan Planning Wing had carried out operations a few months ago; but despite that, fraudulent activities continue to be perpetrated by various housing societies, as illegal sale and purchase of land continues under the approval of certain LDA officials.

FIA Spokesperson Hamad has said that Anti-corruption Circle Additional Director Syed Farid Ali Shah will conduct a forensic audit of all housing societies of Punjab. A session has also been called under the chairmanship of Syed Farid Ali Shah, including all members of the teams that will conduct the audits. He said that in the first phase, societies of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan, during which it will be investigated as to which housing societies have sold more land than they actually have. It will also be seen as to which housing schemes sold off land which was designated for a mosque, green belt, park, school or other social activities, and due action taken against them, he said.
