Fifth Avenue is an online retail store that mainly deals in clothes, imported from all over the world for consumers based in Pakistan, at discounted rates.

The company’s newfound fame, however, comes from its popular ‘Calibri’ collection that it came out with after the recent verdict by the Supreme Court regarding the Panama papers.

They’ve recently added a new shirt to the infamous ‘Calibri’ collection, on which is written “Lying is too Mainstream, so I Gul-a-lie.”

This shirt is apparently a distasteful jab at Ayesha Gulalai’s recent allegations in which she accused Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s leader, Imran Khan, of sending her inappropriate text messages over the course of a few years. On August 1, 2017, she came out with her claims, and ever since, she’s been facing severe criticism from both PTI leaders and the party’s followers.

Outright accusations against her include lying, being an opportunist, and being bribed by the ruling party, PML-N to defame the PTI chief, who enjoys a fiercely loyal group of followers, notorious for leaving no stone unturned in defense of their ‘leader.’

This colossal backlash against the former PTI member, further demonstrates why women choose to keep quiet about sexual harassment in this society. The very fact that all fingers will be pointed towards them, the moment they come forward, is enough to make them succumb to silence.

On reveal, the shirt received overwhelmingly negative reviews on social media, so much so that the company decided to delete the Facebook post.

The shirt, however, remains included in the ‘Calibri collection’ on their official website.
