PPP not to become ally of any party in next elections

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto on Sunday announced that his party would not become ally of any political party in the next elections.

Talking to journalists, he said that his party to commence political fight during the next general elections from Chitral. “We will continue to organise public meetings in Chitral and across the country to maintain the culture of purified politics,” he said.

Bilawal said that masses would reject the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) in the general elections 2018. To a question, he said that PPP would hold next public gathering in Chinot on August 12. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was evading to contest NA-120 bye-poll because he (Shehbaz) could face humiliation.

He said that Nawaz Sharif was paying farewell tours, adding Panama case has unveiled the PML-N face before the nation. To another question, he said that allegations levelled by Imran Khan against Asif Zardari were not correct. “He (Zardari) is fighting against Nawaz Sharif since long,” he said.

Addressing a public meeting in Chitral, Bilawal demanded from the Supreme Court that like Nawaz Sharif case, the cases of Asghar Khan and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto should be trialed in the court and verdict should be shown to the people (in these two cases).

He said that former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was master mind of the Lawari Tunnel project in the late 70s according to the wishes of Chitrali people while former president Asif Ali Zardari did his efforts to bring the project back by allocating a handsome grant for the tunnel.

In his speech, Bilawal criticised Nawaz Sharif, saying that he (Nawaz) was too much ambitious of pasting plaques but as a result he himself lost the power. “Credit goes to my grandfather (ZA Bhutto) as he laid Lawari Tunnel’s foundation,” he said, adding that the tunnel would lead people to an era of progress and prosperity.

He said that if people vote to PPP in the general election 2018, more developmental projects such as the Lawari Tunnel would be initiated. On the occasion, he also said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has introduced politics of abusive language in the country.

He said that the PTI was limited only focusing to use abusive language for others and instead of working for the solution of the problems being faced the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa people believe in sit-in politics. He said that Imran Khan’s slogan to build a ‘new Pakistan’ but he has even failed in building a ‘new’ Pakhtunkhwa.

He alleged that the kitchen of Imran Khan and the airplane of Jahangir Tareen were actually running on public exchequer of the people of Pakhtunkhwa. Basically, Bilawal has initiated informal campaign in connection with the general elections of 2018 from Chitral whereas he also held detail meetings with his party’s leaders and dedicated workers.

MPA Salim Khan told Pakistan Today that Bilawal Bhutto’s Chitral visit was part of a campaign for the upcoming general elections and it would definitely give a boost to party in the area. He also claimed that a number of people have joined PPP during Bilawal Bhutto’s stay in the area.

The PPP chairman was accompanied by opposition leader in National Assembly Syed Khurshid Shah, Senator Sherry Rahman, PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Engineer Humayoon Khan. Since a long, Chitral is considered a stronghold of PPP. In 2013 general elections, when PPP had faced defeat except Sindh, the party grabbed both the provincial assembly seats from Chitral.

Syed Zulfikar Ali Shah, a senior journalist from Chitral, said that Bilawal Bhutto has made a balancing speech which shows that the party wants to get further boost from this district. He also said that the PPP exists from bottom to top in Chitral and its proper mobilisation could help the party to get good results in the general elections.
