Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will reach here from Islamabad on Wednesday through GT Road.

This will be the first visit of former premier to the city after his disqualification by the Supreme Court. This was disclosed by Minister for Commerce, Textile and PML-N Lahore President Pervaiz Malik soon after a press conference at Lahore Press Club on Saturday. He said the date and plan of Nawaz Sharif for visiting the city through GT Road instead of Motorway has been changed on public demand. He said Nawaz Sharif will leave Islamabad at 9am on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference along with Punjab Minister for Auqaf Zaeem Qadri and Education Minister Rana Mashhood, he said the party’s Lahore chapter has finalised a big reception on the arrival of its leader. He said six points have been specified in the city on his arrival where he would address the crowd.

He said Nawaz Sharif would be taken in the form of a procession to the shrine of Hazrat Ali Hajveri (Data Sahib) outside Bhatti Gate through Bund Road, Gulshan Ravi, Sanda, Outfall Road, Niazi Chowk and Ravi Road. “The reception will be a form of expression by the public how much they love Nawaz Sharif. We will leave no stone unturned in hosting a warm reception for our beloved leader.”

It is pertinent to mention here that PTI candidate for NA-120 Dr Yasmin Rashid had raised objections over points in the city where Nawaz sharif will be addressing the crowd. She had alleged the other day that Nawaz Sharif will be addressing public in areas which fall in NA-120.

He added, “Nawaz Sharif will be fighting his case in the court of public since they had elected him the prime minister for third time.”

Auqaf Minister Zaeem Qadri and Education Minister Rana Mashhood lashed out at the Supreme Court for ousting Nawaz Sharif. They said it was unjust that a popular leader was disqualified by the Supreme Court in a bad way. They said historians would write name of Nawaz Sharif with golden words.

Answering a question, the PML-N leaders said the grand reception was not a sort of any protest against the Supreme Court verdict. Earlier, all the arrangements have been finalized and the banners have been placed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Lahore across-the-city.

Welcoming banners have started propping up for the last two days. The sources said that a huge number of PML-N workers from Lahore will welcome Nawaz Sharif. The reports claimed that Nawaz Sharif will reiterate his resolve to keep Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif as his political predecessor and a candidate for the premiership. Nawaz Sharif is all set to join electioneering in NA-120 and will meet voters afterwards.

The sources said that the PML-N stalwarts and workers were getting placards, posters and banners to accord rousing welcome to the ex-prime minister and all arrangements have been finalised in this regard.

  1. The way ex.PM is behaving looks like he has won the trial. His ministers are joining the orchestra of criticicizing the SC verdict. Has the reality not sunk in or are the pakistanis living in denial?. Celebtations and processions for what?
