KARACHI: Pasban e Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor has said that across-the-board accountability of all corrupt elements, including politicians, is a must for a sustainable development of the country.

In a statement here Sunday, he said that the nation should not consider Nawaz Sharif a political martyr. He said that “we have seen enough political gimmicks of corrupt elements and now this farce needs to be stopped for good”.

He said that the country was not formed for political dynasties, adding that Pakistanis are not slaves of dynasties of Sharifs, Bhuttos and Zardaris. He said that it is about time that these political families stop their exploitive tactics.

Altaf Shakoor said that an action should be taken against all those involved in corruption. He said that the joint investigation teams should also be formed to probe why the national institutions like Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Pakistan Steel Mills are running in losses and smaller private airlines and steel mills are running in huge profits.

The massive debt on the country should also be investigated, said the party president.

He said the process of accountability should be further widened and more people involved in corruption should be caught.

He said the whole nation wants to see the country free from the menace of corruption as trillions of rupees are wasted due to massive corruption at higher levels and if these funds are saved and properly spent in education, healthcare, agriculture, job-creation and improving civic infrastructure the rampant poverty in Pakistan could be reduced to a large extent.
