We stand united for well-being, prosperity of country: Rehman Malik

ISLAMABAD: Senator Rehman Malik has said that under the flag of Pakistan, we all are one and stand united for its wellbeing and prosperity.

The PPP leader was speaking to a delegation of the Christian community which called on him at his residence in Islamabad on Thursday. The delegation comprised Basharat Khokhar, Shamim Masih, Samson Sohail and others. During the meeting, matters and problems pertaining to the Christian community were discussed in detail and Rehman Malik showed full solidarity with the fellow Pakistanis.

The delegation apprised the PPP leader about the problems of Christian community regarding registration of their marriage and requested him that a Christian Registration Marriage Bill may be tabled in Parliament as the community is facing problems regarding registration of their marriages.

The senator has assured the delegation that he will move the matter in the Senate of Pakistan for necessary legislations. The delegation handed over a written application to Rehman.

The PPP leader stated that Christian community is living a substandard life; it is the need of the hour that a Christian town, with all facilities, should be constructed in every major city of the country, he said.

Rehman Malik also suggested that he will move in the Senate that the words ‘Sweeper’ and ‘Khakroob’ be replaced with the word ‘Municipality Worker’ which was highly appreciated and regarded by the delegation.

The delegation thanked the PPP leader for being a vocal voice for the rights of minorities, promoting interfaith harmony and helping Christian community in the past.
