SC seeks reply from interior ministry regarding Dr Asim’s name on ECL

ISLAMABAD: The three-member bench, headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan heard Dr Asim’s plea for removal of name from Exit Control List (ECL).

The bench observed that it wanted to know if there is a legal procedure for removal of names from ECL.

The bench, therefore, sought a reply from the interior ministry regarding placing of Dr Asim Hussain’s name on the Exit Control List (ECL).

Pakistan Peoples Party Karachi President Dr Asim is out on bail. He has been charged in cases of corruption involving over Rs450 billion and also allegedly facilitating and treating terrorists at his medical facility.

He has petitioned to the court to allow him to travel abroad for medical reasons.

Asim had been initially arrested by the Rangers in August 2015 before being handed over to the police.
