SC due to hear Jahangir Tareen’s disqualification case today

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan is hearing today, PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi’s petition seeking the disqualification of PTI chief Imran Khan and PTI General Secretary Jahangir Tareen for not disclosing before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) their assets and offshore companies.

In today’s proceeding, the bench will take up Jahangir Tareen’s financial matters.

Abbasi in his petition also alleges that the PTI is being run through foreign funding.

He appealed to the SC to disqualify the PTI leaders for violating the lncome Tax Ordinance 1979 and Peoples Act 1974.

According to the petition, Jehangir Khan Tareen is the actual owner of the offshore companies that have been in the name of his children. It also alleges the PTI leader of sharing gifts worth over Rs1.6 billion among family members, and involvement in insider trading in the shares of United Sugar Mills Limited in 2005.

In the other day’s hearing, Imran Khan’s legal counsel Naeem Bukhari had filed all banking documents disclosing the money trail required by Supreme Court in the case.

The documents show banking record regarding the payments of Khan’s London flat and from Sussex County Cricket Club.

The documents also carry banking trail of Kerry Packer Cricket Series and banking transaction of income from the advertisements.
