Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri, on Saturday, directed an inquiry into the issue of ghost schools and missing teacher across the province.
According to a press release, Zehri issued the directives upon taking a notice of a media report on missing schools. He ordered all the divisional commissioners to launch inquiries at a district level.
The media report said that over 1,500 government-run schools were found, during a verification process, to exist only on paper. However, Balochistan Education Minister Rahim Ziaratwal put the figure of ghost schools at 1,400.
Zehri ordered commissioners to “bring to book” those involved in the creation of the ghost schools. He said that the operation against these ghost schools will start from his own hometown—Khuzdar.
