1 dead, 20 injured in Sialkot road mishaps

SIALKOT: At least two people were killed and 20 others injured in separate road accidents and a firing incident in different localities of Sialkot on Friday.

Police said that an over speeding truck knocked down a motorcycle near Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park in Sialkot. Abid Ali, 26, died on the spot in the accident. The police impounded the truck and arrested the driver.

A Pasrur-Narowal bound passenger van trying to save a motorcycle which suddenly appeared on the road turned turtle near Rahim Garden Housing Scheme. Eight people including Zulfiqar 40, his daughter Hadia, Babu 70, Nehmat Ali 30, Ameen 30, Rehmat Bibi and Abid 20, were injured in the accident. These people were shifted to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, 11 people mostly youth were injured in a separate incident of collision of motorcycles and other road mishaps in different localities who were shifted to different hospitals of Sialkot.

Two culprits Ikram and Altaf killed a shopkeeper Muhammad Yousaf in village Jaiserwala after the exchange of hot words over some financial dispute. The culprits fled the scene.

Separate cases in all incidents were registered at concerned police stations and investigation was underway.
