Toronto: Rup Magon (Rupinder Magon) of the internationally acclaimed band JoSH, is starring in the Hollywood blockbuster, The Black Prince.
The biopic true story of the last king of Punjab boasts an incredibly powerful cast including Shabana Azmi, Jason Fleming, Amanda Root, and superstar Sufi singer Satinder Sartaj.

When has asked how this transition from music to film has been, Magon replied, “I’ve always loved acting. After being a part of 22 music videos, I’ve had a lot of experience in front of the camera. I took film very seriously by taking acting classes, accent training, as well as an intense course in screen-play writing.”
In his short time as an actor, Magon has shared the screen with superstars such as Akshay Kumar, Vinay Virmani, Anupam Kher, and Russel Peters. This will be his third role in a feature film. He has previously starred in Speedy Singhs (Breakaway) and in Deepa Mehta’s Beeba Boys. In 2015, Rup played the lead role in the French short-film, Bonjour Ji. The short-film went on to win 6 awards at film festivals around the world.
Magon has been signed as lead for a Pakistani rom-com as well as a Canadian production.
The Black Prince is set to release July 21st on screens worldwide including India, Pakistan, Canada, UK, US and many more countries.
