Provision of better health facilities is the top priority: minister

KARACHI: Sindh Minister Nasir Hussain Shah has said that provision of better health facilities to people of the province is the top priority of the provincial government and no compromise will be made in this regard.

He stated this while speaking during a surprise visit to Valika Hospital in Karachi on Thursday.

The Information minister went around ICU, CCU and different sections and wards of the hospital and checked the attendance registers of staff, arrangements of cleanliness and facilities provided to patients.

He also inquired about the health of patients and asked if they face any problems and issues regarding the treatment at hospital and provision of various health facilities like ultrasound, laboratory and x-ray.

The patients informed the minister about the acute shortage of water in the hospital. Subsequently, the minister directed to resolve the problems of patients immediately.

Medical superintendent of Valika Hospital, Dr Ali Nawaz Gathoti briefed about the services, facilities and medicines provided at the hospital and informed the minister about the problems faced by the hospital administration.

Hussain Shah assured that the issues of the hospital would be resolved soon. He further directed for the disposal of shabby furniture as per the law and said that the hospital’s overall cleanliness ought to be improved.

He advised the officers and officials to pay their full cooperation towards the provision of optimum facilities to the patients. He also emphasised maintenance of punctuality and performance.
