The petitioner Zahoor Ali filed the plea through his lawyer Saba Saeed accused that the stance record tempering against the SECP Chairman Zafar Hijazi has been proved and a case has already been filed against him, therefore he should be removed from his post.

The plea also argued that after using his power for illegal way to protect the Sharif family, Zafar Hijazi was not eligible for the post.

“Now SECP Chairman has become controversial and the court should order the removal of SECP chairman,” it said.

On July 10, The three-member bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, which is monitoring the implementation of the Panama case had ordered registration of a case against chairman Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Zafar Hijazi for obstructing justice.

The bench of the apex court, which handed down the majority judgment in the Panama Papers case, issued the order after Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf informed the court that Federal Investigation Agency has made a recommendation to register a case against him.
