Overreacting to women cricket team’s failures highlights gender equality in Pakistan: Orya Maqbool Jan

ISLAMABAD – Citing the prevalent overreactions after the national women’s cricket team finished bottom in the ongoing World Cup, senior analyst Orya Maqbool Jan slammed ‘secular and liberals’ suggesting that any form of gender disparity persists in Pakistan.

“Notwithstanding the reality that women are inferior to men and hence should be kept indoors, which in turn means that Pakistan should not have a women’s cricket team, the fact that there has been an over the top criticism for the female cricketers shows that there is complete gender equality in Pakistan,” he said while talking to The Dependent.

Further denouncing the ‘secular conspiracies’ to malign Pakistan, Orya Maqbool who watched all seven of Pakistan’s matches underscored the example of the backlash that captain Sana Mir is facing.

“Sana was Pakistan’s second highest run getter after Nahida Khan and with six wickets only two behind the top wicket-taker Asmavia Iqbal. Now they’re asking her to be sacked from captaincy.

“Such condemnations, normally faced by the men’s cricket team, mean that the analysts and cricket followers do not discriminate between males and females when it comes to knee-jerk reactions.”

Further clarifying that his analysis should not be equated with endorsement of women’s cricket, Orya said he only watched every single second of the World Cup to convey its evils to the masses.

“It is we who bear the potential of being reprimanded for following haraam activities and sins being committed worldwide, so that you can stay safe from them,” he said.
