KARACHI: Two people were injured in a firing incident when they showed resistance during a robbery attempt in the Kuwari Colony area late the other day, police sources stated.
The locals were later able to catch the suspect and beat him up before handing him to the police authorities, security officials informed.
One of the wounded was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital while the other was moved to a private hospital on Stadium Road on the outskirts of Gulshan-e-Iqbal.
Police also recovered weapons from the arrestee’s possession.
Moreover, two suspects were detained during a search operation conducted in Karachi’s Gulberg area, security officers stated.
Weapons, as well as a stolen motorcycle, were also seized from the arrestees’ possession, Superintendent of Police (SP)-Gulberg informed.
In another search operation carried out in Orangi Town No. 6 and close-by areas, a close aide of a Lashkar-e-Jhangvi Karachi leader was detained, SP Orangi Abid Ali Baloch stated, adding that weapons were also recovered from the detainee’s possession.
The detained suspect had been allegedly trained in Afghanistan and Waziristan and is suspected of involvement in various target killings incidents in addition to attacks on Rangers and police. A door-to-door search was carried out in Orangi Town following a tip-off alleging that criminals were present in the area.
