The United States and the West, in general, seem to be thinking diabolical plots against Russia all the time, if Russian media are to be believed.
Yet the latest allegations seem to be a bit far fetched, as Russia’s state consumer watchdog warns against the use of the fidget-spinners, claiming them to be harmfully addictive, while the state TV suggested that the spinning hand toy was actually a tool used by opposition political parties to lure young supporters and raise money by selling them.
“It is a mystery why it has become so popular in Russia right now,” the television reporter said. “Who is promoting this to the masses so actively?”
The reporter then held up another piece of evidence from his investigation: a spinner bought at a Moscow children’s store packaged with writing only in English. “Not a word in Russian!” he cautioned.
We’re pretty sure everyone that read this far thinks they’ll encounter a bold heading saying this was all satire. It’s not.
