Lack of dams

Despite being potentially the richest nation in the subcontinent, the country, since independence, had been unable to protect water in its river channels. The country has no interest in protecting the backbone of our economy and has not been able to build mega dams for 41 years.
It is worth mentioning that the country is incurring Rs25 billion losses a year due to shortage of dams that would pose a great threat to our agriculture sector in near future.
However, Pakistan is generating just half a dollar from one cubic meter of water compared to the world average of $8.
The country needs to go for viable projects after every 10 years so as to save the mountainous water in order to minimise drainage into sea. Thus, the government should set up more dams in the country for the betterment of our future.
