70pc of Tora Bora Afghanistan is still under Daesh control

A public representative has reported yesterday that about 70 percent of Tora Bora area in eastern Nangahar province is still controlled by Daesh.

Haji Zahir Qadir, a parliament member, threatened to orchestrate protestations if the government didn’t give this issue the due attention. Daesh expands its stronghold in the province with each passing day which puts the people in grave danger, he said.

He urges the government to cleanse the area of IS militants and allow locals to protect the region as they are willing to take immediate action. Militant existence negatively affects the population physically and emotionally

“If the government does take action against the militant group in a few days, the Nangarhar people will block the Kabul-Jalalabad Highway for traffic until Tora Bora is completely cleansed of Daesh.”

He said that the people are disgruntled because of the atrocities of Daesh in the region and he called for an organised and serious combat mission to clear the area of terrorists.

Maj. Shirin Aqa, spokesman for 201st Military Corps in the east, has said joint security forces backed by NATO counterparts has already launched an operation in Tora Bora area and the operation is successful so far.
