- Kaira says no threat to democracy if Nawaz goes
- ‘PM Nawaz must say thanks to PPP for support’
Former federal minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Qamar Zaman Kaira on Saturday said that his party doesn’t see any conspiracy against the government, as Nawaz Sharif claims of being victimised whenever he is in trouble.
Addressing a press conference here, he asked the prime minister to disclose before the nation as to who was conspiring against the government as claimed by federal ministers that a conspiracy was being hatched against the government and democracy in the past few days.
Kaira said that if any scheme against democracy were being hatched then PPP should be apprised of it. “We have asked several times who is carrying out conspiracies against you, if there is any conspiracy against democracy tell us… we will save democracy,” he said, adding that the prime minister wasn’t telling them anything.
He further said that the Pakistan Muslim League-N doesn’t need to worry about the democratic process being halted. “We are here for saving democracy,” he said. “We and the people of Pakistan are the guardians of democracy,” he said. He said that Nawaz Sharif should stop looking outward for conspirators and should instead pay attention to his inner circles.
“Many ministers are openly saying things… they seem hopeful,” he said. He said that there would be no threat to democracy if Nawaz Sharif submits his resignation from the PM Office. He said that the prime minister should convene the meeting of the parliamentarians to unmask the factors who were hatching conspiracies against the government.
He asked the prime minister to disclose the secret. “What were the secrets that (former military ruler) General Ziaul Haq told you,” he posed a question. “Mr Nawaz Sharif you should had thanked the PPP that provided shoulder in the time of need,” he added. He said that PPP waged struggle to save the government of Nawaz Sharif.
He recalled that return of Benazir Bhutto also ushers ways for Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country. He said when former president Pervez Musharraf ousted Nawaz Sharif then he (Nawaz) tried twice to return to the country. He said that Nawaz Sharif left the country in the darkness of the night giving deception to the political parties.
He also said that the ‘nation’ must be informed about Nawaz Sharif’s friendship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that properties worth billions of rupees have been unearthed and siblings have become ‘kings’ and the prime minister still saying that conspiracy was being hatched. He alleged that Nawaz Sharif hatched conspiracies against Benazir Bhutto.
He claimed that the ‘entire’ opposition was united against the prime minister. “There is no threat to democracy if Nawaz Sharif steps down,” he repeatedly said. He said that JIT was not formed by Imran Khan or the opposition. Turing his guns towards Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, he said that no one can become (Zulfikar Ali) Bhutto by throwing mikes.
“Bhutto waged a struggle for the stability of democracy,” he said. To a query, he said that Senator Rehman Malik presented documents before the Joint Investigation Team to clarify his report.
Mr Kaira is heads above shoulders for Nawaz Sharif and his brother. Such comments must continue to go across as noon is turning into afternoon InshaAllah.
