Federer beats Berdych, set to meet Cilic in the final

Roger Federer has reached the Wimbledon final for a record 11th time on his way to winning a possible 19th Major. Federer was written off a year ago after sustaining an injury during a losing semi final at the All-England Club, however, he has responded in great style. On the cusp of making history yet again, the 35 year old refuses to let his age be the deciding factor in ending his career.

“I feel very privileged to be in another final,” he said.

“I know how much it means to other players to go out and play on centre court at Wimbledon at any given time.”

“I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity this year in every match to do that. You always worry that you might not get to play another match out there, but fortunately this year I will.

“I can’t almost believe it’s true after what’s already happened this year.”

“We played here last year and I had to come back from two sets to love and match point down,” Federer said. “It was a brutal match. He crushed me at the US Open in 2014, he played lights out — hopefully he doesn’t do that again.”

Social media showed how loved the Swiss is after his name began to trend, with twitter users showering him with compliments.

Federer plays in his 11th Wimbledon final on 16th July, with the hopes of winning the competition an 8th time in his illustrious career.
