The Punjab government has taken an initiative of forming a complaint centre for the prisoners in jails across the province. The families of the prisoners can launch a complaint at the helpline number, 1124, in a case of the police’s unprofessional behaviour or mistreatment by the police in the courts or jail.
Posters and banners have also been displayed in district courts and jails to inform people of this new initiative. With the introduction of this facility, it will be easy for visitors to get meeting appointments.
If a prisoner is not being released despite getting bail can also be reported. It also includes the option of complaining if the prisoner is not getting everything according to proper standards of the jail.
